Disney Water Park with an Infant
Submitted by ilocanosc on Mon, 06/08/2009 - 10:29
This weekend, I took my family to Disney's Typhoon Lagoon. Our party consisted of myself, my lovely wife, my 4 1/2 month old baby, and my aunt. As expected, we didn't get to park as early as we wanted. Having an infant in your party requires much more preparation and planning ahead. Hopefully, you are reading this and you can gather some tips to make your stay more enjoyable - especially if you're bringing along a tiny tike. We were hoping to arrive at Typhoon Lagoon no later than 10:00 am. Unfortunately, we did not get there until 11:00 am. From past experience at Aquatica, we did not bring any drinks or pack lunches because we were forced to discard them upon entering the park. It was very surprising watching other guests bring roller coolers packed with drinks and lunches to Typhoon Lagoon. Note to self (and others): "Bringing drinks and snacks is OK at a DISNEY water park." The weather was great when we first arrived. In fact, it was great for the first hour. But, then it deteriorated quickly. The skies darkened and the rain brought its friends, thunder & lightning. The guests were force exit all the rides and pools due to the danger of lighting strikes. This is where it got ugly. Due to the mandatory evacuation from the rides and pools, the few canopy coverings were filled with huddled families. There was not enough room to accomodate all the guests under the provided coverings. A HUGE argument between two mothers under our canopy almost erupted into a physical altercation between the two parties. As soon as the rain slowed down to a drizzle, I decided to take my family and get out of there because the outlook for the rest of the day did not look too good. Typhoon is surprisingly large. It makes Aquatica seem small in comparison. There is so much to do, I would imagine you can easily spend the entire day at this park. However, I wish there were more coverings in cases of rain. Aquatica did a better job of providing for families with infants. I plan on returning to Typhoon Lagoon again in the future for a more complete review. For now, I leave you with these two tips: 1) Arrive early to set up camp under the few available canopies I hope you enjoy your stay! Please share your story with us! |
